Homework Help: English: Books, Novels & Plays: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Story written by J.K. Rowling
1. The most important character is Harry Potter. Yes, I do admire him.
I admire him because he is brave. His decisions are dangerous, and
risky, but in the end the outcome is always good. He is also wise and
smart. In this book, Harry Potter is a thirteen year old boy, who
learns the truth about the past and how his parents died.
2. The most exciting part of the story is when Professor Snape
(Harry's least favorite teacher) came through the secret passage way.
Which is under the Whomping Willow to the Shrieking Shack ("so called,
haunted house"). Harry Potter was in a room of the Shrieking Shack with
his two friends, Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley. Professor Lupin
(Harry's favorite teacher), and Sirius Black (a suspect of the murder
of Harry's parents, and is Harry's Godfather)were also in the house.
Harry knew Sirius was his godfather, but thought the man was the killer
of his parents. Professor Lupin entered the room . He grabbed the wands
out of Harry, Ron and Hermoine's hands, that had been pointing at
Sirius. Professor Lupin and Sirius were friends. They explained
everything to Harry, about his parents, and what really happened to
them. Professor Snape was an enemy of Lupin, Sirius, James (Harry's
dad), and Peter Pettigrew. He had not heard the explanation Sirius had
given. Snape thought Sirius was going to hurt Harry, and his friends.
Lupin tried to explain, but Snape wouldn't let him. Snape tried to hurt
Lupin and Sirius. He would have brought them to the Hogwarts School and
sent them to Azkaban (jail). Harry blocked the door. Snape told him to
get out of the way, but Harry wouldn't move. Harry trusted Sirius.
Harry used his want and threw Snape back against the wall. Snape was
knocked unconcious. I thought that part of the story exciting, because
Harry had shown great power as a wizard. The truth was that Peter
Pettigrew had betrayed Lily and James Potter. He had been feeding
secret information to Lord Voldemort (the most powerful dark wizard).
If Peter hadn't fed Voldemort the information, Peter would have been
killed. Sirius, after the Potters were killed twelve years ago, was put
in Azkaban. Sirius wanted revenge on Peter for killing his friends.
3. The setting of the story is not that important. The story
takes place in London, but the witching/wizarding world is in secret.
Real humans are called muggles and they don't know anything about the
wizards/witches. I don't think the location matters, because they could
have a secret passageway into the world anywhere.
4. Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort have a few similarities as
well as their differences in their lives. Harry is a good wizard. He is
in the Gryffindor House in school. He is also trustworthy. Voldemort is
a bad wizard, who had betrayed the good side. He took form in others'
bodies, because he could not live in his own body. He also lived in the
Slytherin House at school, when he was a kid. They both spoke
Parseltongue (Snake talk) and at youth had no parents. They were both
wise and very smart. These are the similarities and differences they
had.
